Growing up in the Apostolic Faith denomination, under the leadership of the late Bishop Phillip Coleman. Alonzo's spiritual journey began early. He cherished his faith, having been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of his sins and joyfully received the gift of the Holy Ghost. His beliefs guided him through life's challenges and celebrated his triumphs. Alonzo instilled these values in his children, teaching them the importance of faith, integrity and compassion. In his later life, he transition under the leadership of Sr. Pastor Jennifer Biard.
A native of Chicago, IL, Alonzo's roots were firmly planted in Terry, MS., where he honed his love for the game of football at Terry High School. From a young age, football was more than jus a sport to Alonzo. It was a passion that consumed him. He could often be found eating, sleeping and breathing football.
Alonzo was not just a fan but a true football fanatic, eagerly following the sport and sharing that enthusiasm with his family. Weekends were filled with games, whether watching from the stands or coaching on the field, surrounded by laughter and camaraderie. He celebrate victories and navigated losses with grace , always using each experience as a teaching moment for his boys about teamwork, effort ad perseverance. Alonzo was also Founder and Head Coach of The Byram Knights (JRC) from 2016-2021.
Alonzo Lee Moore was called home by God to be at rest alongside his beloved father, John J. Gayden, Sr. and his cherished grandparents, Elizabeth and George Moore and also Pastor L.A. and Melissa Gayden. Through his physical presence is missed, his spirit and legacy live on through love and memories he imparted to those he left behind.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Kizzie Maynor-Moore of 22 years, who was not only his partner in life but also his greatest supporter. Together, they raised three wonderful children-Azion, Daylan and Ashton- all of whom hail from Byram, MS. Alonzo took immense pride in being a father, passing on his love for family and football to his boys, instilling in them the importance of hard work, dedication and compassion. Alonzo's mother, Priscilla Gayden, holds a special place in the hearts of the family, as do all his four supportive siblings: John Moore(Bonnie), Elijah Moore(Kristen)Elizabeth Brown(Frankie) and Danyale Person. Special Friends, Starklin (Bud)Russell, Alexander(Al)Leflore and E.J. Braddy. Each of them carries forward Alonzo's legacy in their own unique way, sharing the values he lived by.
He was also deeply loved by a host of aunts and great aunts, uncles and great uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends who were fortunate enough to known him. Alonzo was a unifying figure in his family, someone who forged strong bonds and brought joy to gatherings with his infectious spirit.
