Annie Inez Taylor Pruitt, born on March 9, 1947, in Crystal Springs, MS is the beloved daughter of the late Agnes and Woodrow Taylor, Sr. From a young age, Annie embraced her faith as a devoted member of Free People Missionary Baptist Church.
A spirited and active young woman, Annie attended William H. Holtzclaw High School, where she excelled as both a talented basketball player and cheerleader. She graduated in 1968, ready for new opportunities. Soon after she moved to New Orleans, LA to embark on the next chapter of her life.
In the early 1970s, Annie became a dedicated follower of the Jehovah's Witness faith. She later married Clenord T Pruitt, Sr. and together they were blessed with a son, Clenord T. Pruitt born in 1974. In her later years, Annie shared a special bond with Harry Wheeler and they welcomed their beloved daughter, Anaice S. Pruitt "Shanie" Sept. 6, 1985.
Annie devoted many years to her work at Mason Orleans 2 Nursing Home and as a compassionate caregiver, to Dr. Patterson in New Orleans, LA. She also enjoyed fishing, cooking, and was a big fan of the New Orleans Saints football team. In 2005, following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Annie returned to her hometown of Crystal Springs, MS where she continued to care for others with the same warmth and dedication she had shown throughout her life.
Annie Inez Taylor Pruitt peacefully departed this life on September 21, 2024 at the age of 77. She was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and Woodrow Taylor, Sr.; her husband, Clenord N. Pruitt, Sr. ; her son Clenord T. Pruitt; her granddaughter, Blessyn Theroniese "Nugget" Pruitt; her sisters, Evelyn McGowan and Rudean Evans; her brothers, Alton Lee Taylor and Woodrow Taylor, Jr. and her dear friend, Georgia Mae Windham.
Annie leaves to cherish her memories to her devoted daughter, Shanie Pruitt; her daughter-in-law , Shannon Pruitt; her three grandchildren, Tay, Cailah and Semaj; and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Bishop George(Sandra) Taylor of Flora, MS; her two sisters, Rose (Rite Dell)Adams of Crystal Springs, MS and Minnie Rebecca Taylor of New Orleans, LA along with a host of nieces and nephews. Additionally, Annie leaves behind cherished friends and sisters, Sandra Corley and Jenette Scott of New Orleans, LA and a childhood friend Hattie Floyd of Crystal Springs, MS
Annie will forever be remembered for her heart of gold and her legacy of love, kindness, and strength, which will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the entire America Streets and the Goose community in New Orleans, LA
