Vernell Stringer was born to the late Jerry Thomas "JT" Stringer and Lena Mae Taylor on April 19, 1948, in Hinds County.
He attended Perryman Elementary School and graduated from Summer Hill High School. Although he was born as Vernell Stringer, he was known as "Shake".
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Dorothy Marie Moore on April 27, 1968. To this union two children were born, and they adopted one of their grandchildren.
He was employed with Desoto Furniture Company, GNB Technologies as a Plant Manager and Lakeside Moulding. Vernell joined Terry Grove MB Church at an early age, then later confessed his love for Christ when he joined Terry Mission Baptist Church. He served faithfully as a Deacon until his health failed. His other Christian duties included serving as a Sunday School teacher and as Vice President of the Terry Mission's trip committee.
He departed this life in the early morning hours on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. He was preceded in death by his father JT Stringer; mother, Lena Mae Taylor; five sisters; Peggy Smith, Theresa Ann Henry, Amanda "Sally" Henry, Essie Taylor and Ruby Stringer-Cook; two brothers; Dyke Taylor, Jr. and Sherman Stringer; two sisters-in-law, Jo Ethel Taylor and Linda Moore; two brothers in law: Oscar Ray Moore and Willie "Bubba" Moore, Sr.
Vernell Stringer leaves to cherish the memories of his life, his wife; Dorothy Stringer; one daughter, Arylon Stringer; one son; Roshay (Alessandra) Stringer; adopted daughter, Trilisa Stringer; two special children that he helped raise; Johnathan Bradley and Devin Stringer; six grandchildren Trilisa, Johnathan, Iyunna, McKenzie, Jaylyn and Devin; two God-children, Justine "Poosie" Taylor and Lathero "Pete" Taylor; one great grandchild; Brielynn Stringer; five sisters Grace Taylor, Emma Stringer, Shirley Stringer, Betty Stringer and Diane (Oliver)Phillips; seven brothers; Larry Taylor, John Taylor, Thomas(Barbara)Taylor, Paul (Pauline)Taylor, Nay (Cassandra) Taylor, Grady (Mary)Taylor and Travis Allison; one aunt, Maxine Taylor(Chicago, IL);five sister-in laws; Earline(Willie)Wade, Cass Smith, Diane Harris, Mary (David) Robinson and Mary Lee Moore; one brother-in-law, Bobby(Vanessa)Moore. A bonus in-law family, Obbie Coleman Jr., Ashonda, MaKayla and MaKiah. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church members.
