Dyke “Lightening” Taylor Jr. was born October 24, 1954 in Hinds County to the late Dyke Taylor Sr. and Lena Taylor. He received his education from the Hinds County School district.

He confessed his love for Christ at an early age and joined Terry Grove M.B. Church. He was gainfully employed and retired from William Mitchell Construction.

He departed this life on September 1, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father; Dyke Taylor Jr., mother; Lena Taylor; four sisters, Amanda (Sally) Henry, Peggy Smith, Essie Mae Taylor, Theresa Henry one sister-in-law, Jo Ethel Taylor.

Dyke Taylor Jr leaves to cherish the memories of his life: two daughters, Tasha Jordan and Janitria Owens (Terry MS) one son, Darius Taylor (Terry MS) seven grandchildren, Kamiya, Kamari, Kameriah, Elijah, Tyzirah, Jakayla and Jayla (all of Terry MS), one sister, Grace Taylor (Terry MS) ; seven brothers, Vernell (Dorothy) Stringer (Terry MS), Larry Taylor (Byram MS), Thomas (Barbara) Taylor (Crystal Springs MS), Paul (Pauline) Taylor (Jackson MS), John Taylor (Terry MS), Nay (Cassandra) Taylor (Terry MS) and Grady (Mary) Taylor (Terry MS); one aunt, Maxine Taylor (Chicago IL). Along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
