John Curtis Floyd, Sr., was born February 15, 1929, in Hinds County. MS. He was the second eldest son to the late Norman Floyd, Sr. and the late Rosie Nelson Floyd.
He attended Hinds County school system. He professed hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized Mount Wade Missionary Baptist Church in Terry, MS.
John enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1950, serving in Germany and he achieved the rank of Sergeant, John was united in Holy Matrimony to Genellar Brown(deceased). To this union eight children were born. He was a devoted husband and father.
John was a member of Sanderson Lodge 22 for many years and an active Deacon of Pine Grove for over 60 years.
He s survived by his daughter, Delores Smith; his Margaret Jackson; brothers, Harry Lee, Frank, Norman, Jr.(Hattie);preceding him in death, seven children, Dorothy Ann, Shirley Ruth, Debra Ann, Curtis Lee, Jackie Elaine, Bobby Ray, John C. Jr., parents; Norman Floyd, Sr. an L.C. Floyd, Monroe Floyd and Mildred Cooper.
John united in Holy Matrimony to Helen Green Floyd (deceased) for 35 years; he leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends
