On August 21, 2025, at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, MS, Kenneth Edward Johnsey Jr, left this world much too soon.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 4:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home located at 421 Cunningham Street, Terry, MS.
Ken was born in Flowood, MS on May 13, 1965 Kenneth Edward and Adele (Carter) Johnsey. He was the youngest of 6 children and the only boy. He attended school in Crystal Springs, MS and he graduated from Crystal Springs High School in May 1983. He served 2 tours of duty in the U.S. Army and he was a veteran of the Gulf War. After leaving the military in 1991 he moved to Louisiana where he remained until he retired in 2013 and moved to his camp on the Pearl River in Terry, MS.
Ken loved everything about life on the river. He loved going out in his boat in the evenings to set out trotlines and he was always excited to get up at the crack of dawn to see what he had caught. He loved it when he caught a big tabby cat because then he had an excuse to invite everyone he knew to come over for fried catfish, which he was exceptionally good at cooking. When it got too hard to go up and down the bank he would just sit in his chair by the fire overlooking the river and that was good enough for him. Ken loved a good fire and he would spend hours at a time on his 4-wheeler searching up and down the road for the perfect log. It was a well known fact to everyone on the river that Ken's fire NEVER went out, even when it rained. He also loved helping people and he would bend over backwards to help out when he thought someone needed him and he never expected anything in return. He was just a nice guy like that and everyone that knew him loved him. He also loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved parties and he was usually the center of attention and he loved listening to music and he loved dancing.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Adele Johnsey, his sisters Elayne (Johnsey) Garth and Karen (Johnsey) McGowan and his niece, Samantha (Paige) Hilderbrand. He is survived by his wife Cindy, his daughters Kendra Lynn and Kristin Leigh, his sons Kenneth (Trey) Edward, Justin Blaine and Robert (Robbie) Michael, his sisters and their spouses Regina and Hal Thompson, Celeste .(Bunny) and Shane Mize, and Alice and Benny Thomas, 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
