Kenneth Stevens Sr.

Kenneth Stevens, Sr. was born in Terry, MS., on September 20, 1953, to his parents, Willie R. Stevens, Sr. and Geraldine Mapp-Stevens.

Kenneth Stevens, Sr., along with his mother, moved to Chicago, IL. He graduated from Carver High School. There he met and married his high school sweetheart, the late Deanna Lee Perkins Stevens. They had been married for 26 years, when she passed away in 1995. They have 4 children, 3 sons and a daughter, Kenneth J. Stevens, Jr.(Chezpere) Dekalb, IL; the late Doremus Joshua Stevens, Sr.; the late Karie Jamale Stevens and KenAnna Stevens-William(Chris) of Arlington, TX; his grandkids include Kenny man's kids, Corey, Dominique, Angelique, Dominick, Deyoncea, and Joshua. Ken Anna's kids, Are-Anna, Deshwan, Jaquana, Laquandra, Cordarius, Kendarius, Jamey, Jr., and Jamey Anna. Karie's kids: Travis, Sir Stephon, Bella, Kobe. Doremus kids: Tashuana, Doremus, Jr. and Julius. And 40 Great Grandkids. 

Kenneth Stevens, Sr. worked many years in Chicago at Jay's Potato Chip, Inc., where he was a head union steward. He retired from there in 1991 and in 1992 he moved back to Terry, MS and started working for Byram Middle School and Terry High School until he retired from Hinds County School District. Few years after his wife passing, he met and married Josie Atchison-Stevens.

Kenneth Stevens, Sr. loved music, dancing, cooking  and working in his yard. He rededicated his life back to Christ on February 5, 1995 at Free People M.B. Church located in Crystal Springs, MS. Later he moved his membership to The Church of God, under Bishop John Culver, where he remained a faithful member. 

Kenneth Stevens, Sr., leaves to cherish his memory, 3 brothers, Willie Stevens. Jr.(Sherry), Morris Stevens(Linda) and Allen Stevens(Stephanie) and 3 sisters, Carolyn Stevens Gwen (Arthur)and Ethel Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, godparents, Gabriel Stevens, Gearlletha Stevens, special niece Lakeesha Perkins; special nephew Maurice Stevens and a host of other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

Everyone who Kenneth Stevens, Sr. became friends and fans. He loved his music and dancing, he was known for being a man of love, a faithful man, hard-working man of God whose love will truly missed.

Kenneth Stevens, Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Deanna Lee Perkins-Stevens, sons, Doremus J. Stevens, Sr., Karie J. Stevens, mother, Geraldine Mapps-Stevens, father, Willie R. Stevens, Sr. brother, Jimmy Hart and grandson Sir Stephon Stevens.
