Lionel James Crawford
September 9, 1955 – July 29, 2026
Lionel James Crawford was born on September 9, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, the youngest child of the late Elizabeth Crawford and L.J. Crawford. He grew up alongside his two older sisters, Marion Jones and Patricia Ann Chambers(Deceased). Lionel was educated in the Chicago Public Schools and Jackson Public School Systems and graduated from Lanier High School.
Shortly after graduation, Lionel joined the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country and had the opportunity to travel to many places during his military career. Following his service, Lionel began a career in sales and later became an entrepreneur, establishing a paper resource and delivery company as well as several club venues. He eventually transitioned into CDL trucking, where he remained until his retirement.
After experiencing health complications, Lionel departed this life on July 29, 2026. He will be fondly remembered as a true social butterfly who never met a stranger. He enjoyed traveling, music, experiencing new things, and, above all, connecting with people and making new friends.
Lionel leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Pamela; his sister, Marian Jones of Jackson, Mississippi; his sons, Robert Tyson of Chicago, Illinois, and Lionel J. Crawford Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Brandy Crawford of Richmond Hill, Georgia; his goddaughter, Ashley James of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; and his beloved grandchildren, Jaden, Bria, Caia, and Grey. He also leaves behind extended family members, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by his warmth, outgoing spirit, and love of life.
Lionel will be deeply missed, but the memories, laughter, and connections he shared with those around him will continue to live on.
