Sister Lucille Collins-Cooper was born on July 20, 1939, in Terry, MS., to the late Arthur and Adeline Collins. On April 1, 2026, the world lost a gentle soul, Lucille Collins-Cooper, aged 86. She will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and her unwavering love for her family. She grew up in the Collis Hill Community along with her brothers, Robert Earl and Arthur Collins, Jr. and her sisters Mary Collins, Christine Hart, Sarah Young, Mary Dean and Tomora Easley.
She was a member of Terry Mission Baptist Church and a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Early in her adult life, she worked at Days Inn.
Her legacy is not measured only in accomplishments, but in moments - the comforting words she offered, the laughter she shared, the encouragement she gave when it was needed most. She had a remarkable way of making people feel seen, heard, and valued. Those who knew her will remember her not only for what she did, but for who she was, genuine, caring, and full of heart.
Though we grieve her absence, we honor her by carrying forward the kindness, she showed, the love she modeled, and the integrity she lived by. Her memory will continue to inspire strength in times of difficulty and gratitude in moments of joy. She will always be remembered with deep love and respect.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Cooper; her parents, Arthur and Adeline Collins; her brothers, Robert Earl and Arthur Jr.; her sisters, Christine Hart, Sarah Young, and Mary Collins; her children, Charlotte Collins and Elmer Collins.
Her spirit will live on in every shared story, every echo of laughter and every act of love inspired by her example. Precious memories will live on in the hearts of those who will forever cherish her; four daughters, Diana Jordan of Terry, MS, Angie and Brenda Collins of Jackson, MS and Amy Collins of Terry, MS; two sons, Walter (Vickie)Cooper of Jackson, MS and Fredrick Cooper of Terry, MS; one granddaughter, Gloria Collins, that she reared upon the death of her mother, Charlotte; two sisters, Mary Dean of Jackson, MS and Tomora Easley of Terry, MS. She also leaves precious memories in the hearts of twenty grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren, twenty-four great great grandchildren and a multitude of other relatives and friends.
