Lumel Wilson

Lumel Wilson, also known affectionately as Peter Rabbit, has sadly passed away at the age of 72. He was born on July 24, 1951, in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, and he peacefully departed from this world on September 29, 2023, at his home.

Throughout his life, Lumel made a significant impact on those around him. He had a diverse career that spanned from trucking to working in Copiah County public works. Lumel dedicated himself to his profession and retired with honor.

Education played an essential role in Lumel's life, and he received his education from Crystal Springs Public Schools. A thirst for knowledge accompanied him throughout his journey.

Lumel possessed a deep love for nature and relished spending time outdoors. His hobbies and interests reflected this passion. Whether it was exploring the beauty of the natural world or simply appreciating its wonders, Lumel found solace and joy in the great outdoors.

A man greatly adored by his family and friends, Lumel created cherished memories with those closest to him. He was preceded in death by his father, Murphy Wilson; mother, Ida Robinson-Wilson; brothers Cephus and Murphy; sister Carolyn; and son Sherman Wilson. Although they mourn his loss deeply, they find comfort in the immense love they shared with Lumel.

Left to cherish his memory are his surviving family members: five sons Derrick Wilson, Clayton Hayes, Herman Washington, Lumel Wilson Jr.; two daughters Peggy Myles and Tramekia Washington; eight brothers Vercy (Shirley), John Earl (Peggy), Murphy (Deshundra), Larry (Linda), Michael (Linda), Perry, Carl Robinson, and Raymond; six sisters Ethel Terry, Beverly Cheryl Mary Josephine; six grandchildren who held a special place in his heart; and nine great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life. Lumel also had a host of nephews, nieces, friends, and relatives who were touched by his loving spirit.

To honor and celebrate the life of Lumel Wilson, there will be two services held. The first service is a visitation on October 13, 2023, at Heritage Funeral Services, LLC, located at 421 West Cunningham Ave., Terry, MS 39170. The visitation will commence at 1:00 PM and conclude at 6:00 PM.

The second service is a Celebration of Life ceremony on October 14, 2023, at Great Pilgrim Rest M.B Church, situated at 5089 Moncure Marble Rd, Terry, MS 39170. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 AM and conclude at 12:00 PM.

Lumel Wilson's legacy will endure in the hearts of all who loved him. In his kind and gentle spirit, he leaves behind the inspiration to appreciate the beauty of nature and find solace in its embrace. He touched countless lives throughout his journey and will forever be remembered as a beloved friend and family member.

In this time of mourning, let us celebrate Lumel's life with gratitude for the joy he brought into our lives. May his soul find eternal peace and tranquility as we continue to keep his memory alive in our hearts.
