Ruby Lee Wilson Young (1928–2026)

Ruby Lee Wilson Young was born on February 26, 1928, to the late Meddie Wilson and Hattie Strong. A woman of deep faith and a lifelong servant of God, she accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. For many years, she was a devoted and longstanding member of Terry Mission Baptist Church, where her presence was a cornerstone of the congregation. On February 21, 2026, just days before her 98th birthday, God called her home.An avid reader, gardener, talented artist, seamstress, and skilled cook, Ruby was a woman of many talents. Yet, those who knew her best knew her true passion: casting a line and reeling in fish after fish.Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Perkins; her children, Christine and Patrice; her grandson, Keith Wilson; and her beloved siblings: Reuben “Jabo” Brown, Sadie Lee Wilson, Willie Ruth “Dear,” Clyda Mae “Charlie,” Mattie “Shorty” Buckner, M W “Doodle” Wilson, Vernon “Pap” Wilson, Ollie, S W Wilson, and Charles. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Charles Perkins(Faye), Bonnie Perkins, Donna Gates, and Claudia Washington(Burgess). Her legacy continues through her sisters, Dorothy Patterson and Ruth Ann Bridges; her 11 grandchildren: Daryl Wilson, Greg Wilson, Milous Young, Rhonda Hill, Micah Phillips (Elena), Brianna Perkins, Jemuel Gates, Tory Phillips (Zimrie), Sheena Young, and Ruby Drake; as well as ten great-grandchildren: Deon Wilson, Skylar Brinson, Tyree Brinson, Gregory Wilson, Nia Wilson, Monique Collins, Bryan Collins, Jalon Hill, Kyla Hill, and Jia Holmes.

She is survived by her nieces, Sadie (Harold) Brown and Bobbie (Frankie) Brown; her nephews, Luther (Vicky) Buckner, Tonny (Shirley) Buckner, Curtis (Christine) Buckner, and Leroy Buckner; as well as many great-great-grandchildren, other nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and neighbors who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her nephews, Aaron and Bennie Buckner.

Ruby also leaves behind her cherished fur-baby, Lucky.
