Richard W. Neely Sr. passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on August 15, 1951, to Maxwell and Geneva Neely, Richard was a man whose strong work ethic and generous heart left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Throughout his life, Richard embraced his lifelong passion for drag racing and cars, bonding deeply with others who shared this exhilarating love. His enthusiasm for life and appetite for adventure were infectious, inspiring all around him. Whether in the garage tinkering with engines or cheering from the sidelines, Richard's spirit shone brightly.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife of 36 years, Debra Pike Neely. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Richard was a proud father to Richard W. Neely (Laurie), Wesley Neely (Audrey), David Neely (Ashley), Mark Neely (Candace), and Bradley Pike Hill. Each of his sons carries forward his legacy, embodying the values of hard work and compassion that he instilled in them.
Richard also finds his legacy continued through his twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to his life. His brother Will Neely (Suzanne) will carry forward fond memories of their times together and the bond they shared.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Maxwell and Geneva Neely, and his half-sister, Shirley Drone. While they are missed dearly, Richard's unwavering love and the values he imparted continue to resonate in the lives of his family.
