THE LIGHT

"Her light was like a beacon, shining brightly in every corner she entered"

Affectionately known Punkin, the baby girl of the family, Yolanda Murray Warnsley was born  to Mary Corean Murray ad Sherman Murray on June 8, 1976. From her first  breath to her last, she radiated joy, strength and love- forever the true "boss" baby, leading with grace and an indomitable spirit.

Yolanda was dedicated to her education and was always on a journey to expand her mind and deepen her understanding of the world. A graduate of Crystal Springs High School, she went on to earn her Associate of Arts degree from Hinds Community College and later her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Jackson State University.  With and unquenchable thirst for knowledge, she was in the process of completing her Master's in Social Work from Belhaven University.

While her talents, certifications and achievements were numerous, it was in the field of social work that she found her true calling-a place where passion and purpose intertwined. Yolanda committed 17 years of service to the Mississippi Department of Child and Human Services, dedicating herself to the reunification and rehabilitation of children and families. In her work, she was a guiding light for those in need, offering compassion and strength to help others heal and rebuild their lives.

THE LOVE

"Her love was boundless, a wellspring that nourished everyone around her"

Yolanda's proudest role was that of a mother. Her children, Alexander and Maranda, were the center of her world, her pride and her joy. She would move mountains and everything in between to ensure they had every opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Her love was fierce, unyielding and boundless- a force that embraced not only her children but her entire family.

As the eldest in her family, Yolanda were the self- assigned title of "second mom" with pride and devotion. She was the heart of family gatherings, the planner of reunions and the keeper of traditions that kept everyone close. Her love extended beyond her immediate family, as she embraced and uplifted friends, neighbors and her community.

A devoted member of Greater Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church from her youth, Yolanda found joy and purpose in service. She was a quiet yet powerful force in her church community, organizing social impact events and missions, always aiming to make a positive difference in the lives of those around her.
